How Often Should You Do Pilates to See Results?

How often should you do pilates? My general answer to that is, however often you want to do pilates. That being said, a lot of my clients have busy schedules and want to understand what the best approach is to really seeing results from pilates. I totally get it! I start by suggesting taking a look at your calendar and understanding what realistically works best for your life. Are you a morning or an evening workout person? How long do you like to move for? 5 mins? 20 mins? 1 hr? Once you’ve been able to identify the easiest way to get into a routine, consistency is key.

  • Once a week - I always tell my new clients that you would be so surprised by the results you will get from committing to a pilates class once a week. Again, consistency being the key word here. Let’s say you bought a 4 class pack and have been able to find a gap in your schedule on Monday mornings. You start to look forward to this time every week as some me time where you can zen out and focus on yourself. In just one month, you will feel and look like a totally new person!

  • 3 x’s a week - Let’s say you’ve got a big event coming up that you want to look and feel your best for. You’re ready to commit to your mind and body and have identified Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening as your sweet spot. After a week or two you will most definitely notice more definition in your muscles (hello abs) as well as better posture. You will be standing confidently tall feeling like a million bucks on your big day!

  • 7 days a week - The most beautiful thing about pilates is that it is totally safe to do everyday. You won’t be stressing your body or muscles out so much that you can do harm from over doing it. If pilates feels good to you and you love to do it everyday - by all means go for it!
